Szotynscy & Zaleski were said to have been inspired by the art and illustrations of Jan Marcin Szancer [1902 - 1973: a Polish illustrator who studied at Kraków's Academy of Fine Arts, and later in France and Italy and illustrated some 150 books] and Jan Brzechwa [1898 - 1966: a polish poet and author mostly known for his work in children's literature].

The Krzywy Domek website describes the complex as follows:

"The showpiece of Sopot and the symbol of the modern world that harmoniously combines business with culture and art.

Each day plenty of people pay visits to us to conduct business, eat, enhance their health or do shopping. This place is the seat of offices of companies representing various industries, beauty salons, doctors’ offices, shops and the like. In the evening the Krzywy Domek is vibrant with life, as well. Its clubs and pubs provide extensive programmes of events and their top quality and diverse catering will satisfy all tastes – both sophisticated and traditional ones.
